Real project files
A layered .psd, a keyframed .aep, a .blend with materials, a timeline with cuts. Open it, change one thing, ship.
Describe the shot, the spot or the sting. Sextant plans the job, drives Blender, After Effects, Photoshop, Premiere and Resolve on your Mac, calls image, video and voice models when they help, and hands back project files you can open and keep editing.

Scenario: a 15-second launch spot. Sextant reads the brief and brand kit, asks before spending $0.16 on four product stills, builds an After Effects comp with keyframed beats, renders a preview, and delivers the .aep project, the stills and an MP4.
Works with the tools on your machine, and the agents you already pay for.
Names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say what Sextant works with. Sextant isn't affiliated with or endorsed by them.
Prompt-to-video tools give you a file you can't open. Sextant does the work where professionals do it, so every result stays yours to tweak.
A layered .psd, a keyframed .aep, a .blend with materials, a timeline with cuts. Open it, change one thing, ship.
It drives the software you already own, on your computer. Projects are plain folders. Keys stay in your Keychain.
Run it on Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok or OpenRouter. Pick image, video and voice models per job, or let Sextant choose.
See the price before anything paid runs. Approve commands your way. Steer mid-task, or queue your next idea.
Every job runs the same four legs, and you can step in at any of them.
Type what you're after in plain words. Drop in references, a brief, or point at a project folder.
Sextant reads the brief, proposes a plan and asks what it needs. You choose how long it waits for an answer.
It scripts Blender, After Effects, Photoshop and friends, and runs generations in parallel with live progress.
Finished renders sit next to their editable sources, versioned, with the originals kept. Copy to a delivery folder if you like.
The bits that turn a clever demo into something you'd hand a client.
Some days you want it to just go. Some days you want a say in every call. Pick per chat.
Which ending for the spot?
Each generation shows an estimated cost first. Set the amount above which Sextant stops and asks. Drag the slider and watch what changes.
Example prices for illustration. Real estimates come from your provider's rates.
When a choice is visual, Sextant shows it visually: pick one of several, compare two clips, tune settings with sliders, or approve a storyboard frame by frame.
Sextant hands pieces to helper agents and runs generations side by side. The activity tray shows every generation, render, export and download across your chats, with live output when you want the details.
Skills are written know-how the agent loads when a job calls for it. Use the bundled ones, import your own folder, or let Sextant learn one from a chat, with your OK before it changes anything.
$name or the slash menuLet Sextant pick a model for each step, or set a favourite per kind of work. Put providers in order; if one is out of credit or down, it falls through to the next and tells you who's being billed.
Sextant ships a command-line tool and a local MCP server, so the agent you code with can render in Blender or cut a timeline. It's an MCP client too: plug in your own servers and choose, tool by tool, what each project may call.
Trim, pull highlights, caption, reframe for every feed and grade log footage to Rec.709, all on your machine at no generation cost.
Sextant can run commands and edit files on your computer. You decide how much rope it gets, and you can take it back mid-job.
The default for flow: it works without stopping, and the chat shows everything it did.
File edits go through; commands still ask.
Routine steps run; anything out of the ordinary waits for you.
Nothing happens without a yes. Grants you give can be revoked per chat.
Every generation shows its estimated cost first, and anything over your ask-first amount stops for a yes.
Real people's faces and voices need their permission and an extra approval. Someone else's character always asks.
Provider keys go into the macOS Keychain through a secure field, never into chat history.
Projects are folders on your disk. Usage statistics and remote feature updates each have an off switch.
Edits and regenerations make a new version. Deletes go to Trash with an Undo.
Provider fallback never bypasses a refusal, and a denied step stays denied.
During the preview, Sextant runs on your own keys. Credits and team plans come later, and we'll publish prices here before anything costs money.
Pay as you go · billed by your providers
Connect the agent and model accounts you already have. Generation costs go straight to your provider, and Sextant shows the estimate first.

You bring your own creative app licences. "Coming" means on the roadmap and not available yet.
Straight answers about what works today and what's still coming.
A desktop app with an AI agent inside that does creative work in real creative software. You describe the result; it plans the steps, drives the apps on your computer, calls generation models when they help, and gives you the project files it made, not just a video or a PNG.
No. It uses them. Sextant works through each app's own scripting or interchange formats (Blender's Python, After Effects and Photoshop scripting, Premiere XML timelines, Resolve Studio's API), so the result opens in the app you know and you can keep editing by hand. You bring your own licences.
Blender, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro (new cuts as XML timelines), DaVinci Resolve Studio, Remotion, and built-in footage tools for trimming, captions, reframing and grading.
Unreal, Unity, Godot, Houdini, Final Cut Pro, Ableton Live and more are on the roadmap and marked as coming.
Today you connect an API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI or OpenRouter to power the agent, and keys from fal, ElevenLabs or Google for generation. Signing in with an existing Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini plan, and Sextant-hosted models billed in credits, are coming.
You set an ask-first amount for any single generation (default $5; set $0 to approve every paid generation). Every generation shows its estimated cost before it runs, and long local renders ask first too.
It's a preference, not a hard cap at your provider, so keep provider-side limits on as well.
On your computer. Projects are ordinary folders, keys sit in the macOS Keychain, and you can switch off usage statistics and remote feature updates in Settings. Generation requests go to the providers you choose.
Yes. Sextant runs a local MCP server and a command-line tool, so other agents can call its creative tools. It is also an MCP client: add your own servers by URL or command and pick which tools each project may use.
